Updated: Nov 14, 2018
Feeling a little chilly? Then get out and get moving! Thankfully, Jackson Hole has three amazing events that are sure to get even the most reluctant winter athlete excited this winter. But if you ARE super-keen, all of these events are part of the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club’s Triple Crown Series and Intermountain Nordic Marathon Series… 1. The Annual Moose Chase Now in its 26th year, the Annual Moose Chase Nordic Ski Race takes place at the Trail Creek Nordic Center on February 17. This premier Nordic race includes a 30k (that skis like a 50k!), a 15k, 5k, 3k and a free 1/2k. There’s the option to skate or classic ski the course. 2. Fish Creek Excavation’s Annual Town Downhill Now in its 36th year, Fish Creek Excavation’s Annual Jackson Town Downhill takes place on March 10 and 11. The big star of the event has to be the heart-stopping mini-Hahnenkamm course on Snow King with divisions for Pro, Recreation, Telemark, Junior, Fat and Baggy and Snowboard. 3. The Annual Karen Oatey PPP Now in its 43rd year, the Annual Karen Oatey Pole Pedal Paddle (PPP) takes place on March 24. The five-leg race starts at the top of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and finishes at Astoria Hot Springs Park in Snake River Canyon. The race consists of an alpine ski/snowboard leg, a short running leg, a cross-country ski leg, a bicycle leg and a boating leg—and you can compete either individually or as part of a team. After a day of vying for the Triple Crown, why not spend some glorious down-time by your very own fireplace in a King Fireplace Room at the welcoming oasis that is the Wyoming Innin the Grand Teton mountain range? This elegant 380-square-foot room has everything you need to relax after a day of challenging sport activity, from complimentary Wi-Fi to a roaring gas fireplace to cozy up beside. Just what you need after a day of racing!
